Artist in residence for Stormen Concert Hall 2019 is Ola Kvernberg. Kvernberg is renowned as one of the most influential musicians in Norway at the moment, and over the course of 2019 he will present three musical projects that will showcase his incredible versatility as a composer and musician.
Kvernberg has released several albums with a broad coverage in genres – some say they go all the way from modern jazz to bluegrass. He won and was nominated for several Spellemann-awards (the Norwegian equivalent to the Grammy Awards) in the jazz category.
In addition to playing in several bands and releasing new, high-quality projects, Ola is a composer who has become quite sought after in the film industry. He composed the musical pieces for the Swedish film «Chasing the Wind» (2014) and for the documentary «Two Raging Grannies» (2015), the latter which was nominated for the Grand Scores Award – the European music award equivalent to the Academy Awards.
